Having been in the industry since leaving school, it quickly became clear to the founder David Roy Miller that there was a gap in the market for a quality mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems company capable of carrying out quality design and build M&E installations. He learnt the management side of the business and decided that it was time to take it himself with the help of trusted staff. The initial challenge was the same with most new businesses, cash and he quickly learnt that banks only want to lend money when you don’t actually need it. That said, NWP had a good team and a good client base so by continually leaving profits within the business, it was able to grow and eventually self-fund.

Success Factor

The firm has grown through having quality dedicated staff that care about the standard of projects and the needs of customers, delivering quality installations on time and on budget, and getting repeat business from loyal clients as a result of these factors. The more projects it delivers on time and on budget, the more clients naturally come back to NWP with more work at larger values.

The Future

NWP plan to add a further £10 million to its turnover within the next three years and believes that the business will continue to grow naturally due to success of delivering quality projects on time and on budget. Currently, 80 per cent of the firm’s work is negotiated with existing clients with new clients seeking to engage due to the firm’s continued success in its chosen marketplace.
