Newport Business School
Sponsoring 'Fastest Growing Firm, Creative and Knowledge Industries' award
www.nbs.newport.ac.uk/Newport Business School, part of the new Faculty of Arts and Business, is a hothouse of creativity and enterprise that is working closely with the local business community and other stakeholders to develop Newport and the wider region. Based at a new £35 million building in the heart of the City of Newport, we have assembled a team of professional staff who are experts in their fields and committed to ensuring that all the students studying at the Business School get the support they need to flourish. This is reflected in the outstanding results we have achieved in the UK National Student Survey - for the last four years, we have ranked best in Wales and third overall in the UK for student satisfaction in Business subjects. If you’re an employer looking at developing your staff and growing your organisation then why not look at us. The courses within Newport Business School have been carefully designed in conjunction with many leading professional bodies and industries to enable our students to have the best chance of employment and career progression when they graduate. For example, we are a ‘Platinum’ tuition provider for ACCA – the highest level of quality recognition that a tuition provider can obtain – and we are one of only a few colleges who are able to offer an internally assessed course for all of the ACCA Fundamentals Level papers. We are also an accredited study centre for both CIMA (with Learning Quality Partner status, again the highest available level of accreditation) and CIPD recognised courses. Our ACCA, CIM, CIMA and CIPD courses all lead to full Chartered Member status. These professional qualifications, as well as our Masters programmes such as the MBA, are vital in helping to up-skill the executives of growth companies as they develop from an entrepreneurial to a professional management structure. Our MBA now has newly-developed specialist pathways and provides professional recognition through CMI membership. Sir Terry Matthews, when he opened University of Wales Newport’s new city campus, said that the spirit of entrepreneurialism was inherent in the Welsh people. We couldn’t agree more and that is why Newport Business School is proud to be sponsoring the award for the fastest growing firm in the creative and knowledge industries for the fourth year running and raising the profile of the entrepreneurs of today and tomorrow.
