Trojan-Mek (Maesteg)

Trojan Mek was started in 2004 by directors Leighton Price and Colin Watkins with the aim of providing the manufacturing Industry with a machine moving service that would be ‘second to none’. The major challenges in the first three years were financing the business, building the customer base, and asset purchases.

Success Factor

The rapid growth of the business from 2011 to 2013 was due to improved marketing, diversification with the development of a transport division, and improving the skill base of personnel.

The Future

Over the next five years, the company will continue with the growth of the transport division from its current level of five vehicles to over ten vehicles. This will be done by improving marketing methods, (including telemarketing and electronic methods), centralising the operations of the business and improve communications and flexibility of departmental functions. There are also plans to further diversify the business through engineering services and facility management services, as well as employing and training new members of staff.
