Pearce Elite Plumbing and Heating (Bridgend)

The business started when the new build housing market crashed and the founder Gareth Pearce was concerned that the company he was working for was about to go into administration. So he sold his house and started up a small business just doing maintenance in private houses in the Bridgend area. He picked up a few good jobs, including the refurbishment of the Bryncethin RFC changing rooms and a laundrette in Swansea to get the business off the ground. He also knew that with his hard work ethic could grow a successful company which big construction companies would want to buy from. The biggest challenge was and still is cash flow, as the founder has never had much money before and growing this quick takes an effect on personal life due to not having enough funds to take on more staff, resulting in working very long hours and not seeing my family and friends as much as he wanted to. The other challenges are chasing up payments or late payments, taking on new labour and finding the right people to do the work in question. Luckily now, the business has a great team and a priority is to keep them happy and continue to do a great job for the company

Success Factor

The main factors for the growth of Pearce Elite are that they treat every job, big or small, the same. According to Gareth, businesses are only as good as their last job so repeat business is a key factor. Then there is hard work ethic by the whole team that has helped the business grow over the last few years. Finally, drive and determination is a main factor and due to Gareth’s sporting background, he loves a challenge and when he does something, he always want to be the best and be successful at it.

The Future

The plans now are to continue to give a top quality service and ideally keep the team of workers in full time work. Also to invest in marketing, new website and more networking whilst looking for more new build sites to do and hopefully build his customer base.
