Andrew Scott Ltd (Port Talbot)

Origins

Andrew Scott Ltd was established in 1870 in Margam and is now approaching 150 years in business. It is one of Wales’ oldest construction companies, employing over 1,000 employees during its busiest times. The motivation now, as it has always been, is its employees and its clients, employing local people some second and third generation to give a repeat and new client base a high quality construction project.

Success Factor

Andrew Scott Ltd has managed over the last three years to double its turnover, retain its staff and employ additional staff to equip itself in readiness for the upturn expected in construction. The increase in turnover has been achieved by concentrating on the sectors that have seen growth, such as infrastructure, energy, conservation, education and stadia. Retaining its loyal workforce and staff has been very important in driving the company forward out of the recession and consolidating its position as one of Wales’ oldest and most respected and trusted construction companies.

The Future

Andrew Scott Ltd is aiming for organic growth to £50m with recruitment strategy of attaining the highest calibre construction staff in Wales and the South West of England. It will do this by concentrating on growth sectors in energy and power, stadia, infrastructure, education, health and retail. It has already opened new offices in Haverfordwest in 2013 and Bristol in 2014 and will be establishing new headquarters in Baglan, Port Talbot in 2015.
