Based in Port Talbot, Towerlight is a long established European manufacturer of specialist lighting towers. The firm has a complementary range of products and outstanding technical support that has earned a reputation for being one of the leading suppliers of lighting towers. It uses only brand name materials in the manufacture of its equipment, whose quality meets tough warranty standards. The company is constantly improving its methods and seeks to maintain uncompromising excellence in every product developed. Major clients include Speedy PLC (National rental company 250 depots, fastest growing UK rental company); HSS PLC (National rental company 400 depots); and Ashtead Group PLC (250 outlets UK, 529 depots worldwide, and the fourth largest global rental company in the world). It sells a standard product range through distributors such as GENSET PLC (No 46 in this year’s FG50 list).

Origins

The firm originated from a request by the Italian firm Towerlight SRL to take up the challenge of globalising the distribution of their lighting tower product. In 1999, the firm was appointed exclusive worldwide distributors for the small Italian manufacturer (which only sells in their home market in Italy). It was decided to adopt the same name for branding purposes, but Towerlight is a separate Welsh company.

Success factors

The main success factors for the company are related to having an innovative quality product, an exceptional team of people in business. These combined with the flexibility of the manufacturer and fantastic customer service, have ensured that Towerlight is the second fastest growing firm in Wales in 2003.

The future?

The main aim of the company is to sustain profitable growth, driven through strategic global alliances. It aims to globalise the business by supplying large OEM’s and to be innovative and develop new products for the rental market.
