Simon Safety and Lifting Centre

Origins

The business was established and formed in April 2000 after the amalgamation of Simon Lifting Services with the Safety Centre, enabling the new company to offer a one-stop-shop to industry. The main challenges faced by the company when first started was its location and obtaining suitably trained staff with large resources spent on internal training, due to complexity of the products and services it provides. The firm has since moved into larger premises with extensive warehousing and showroom facilities adjacent to the A477 trunk road between Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock. This has benefited the company and assisted its increased growth.

Success Factor

With the assistance of a dedicated and loyal workforce, the company was able to provide a professional and reliable service to private and public sector customers, (both locally and internationally) and be recognised as providing the best service and the highest quality of product throughout Wales and the UK. The team also ensured that all activities were of the highest standards and that the quality management system was maintained to the ISO9002 standard. Another major success factor was understanding customer expectations and providing information and a knowledge-base so that safer working practices can be implemented.

The Future

Simon Safety and Lifting Centre offers clients a unique range of products within the UK market. The business has sole partnering agreements in place with international manufacturers offering high quality, technically advanced garments, creating a safer and more productive working environment, benefiting procurement, safety and the wearer. Introduction of new e-commerce facilities, including a unique service to its own account holders enables clients to enter their own virtual catalogue with all products detailed to them. This minimises the risk of using an unspecified product for a particular task and reducing the risk of employees injuring themselves or other around them.
