As one of Wales’ most innovative companies, the Chepstow-based Ocean Resource Ltd is a design and engineering consultancy committed to creating and developing some of the world’s revolutionary breakthroughs in technology for the offshore and sub-sea engineering industry. Currently employing over thirty skilled and qualified staff, it is recognised as the market leader in automated, unmanned sophisticated buoy systems and is carrying out development work for some of the largest gas and oil producers in the world.
In the past, the firm has been awarded a number of prestigious projects including the contract to design one of their Sea Nova platforms for the West Millom Field. This contract has not only resulted in the company designing the platform but also taking responsibility for finding a dock in which the platform’s construction will take place. After close inspection, Ocean Resource decided that Pembroke Dock would be most suited to the task, which reflects the company’s continued commitment to Wales.
More recently, the firm was invited to attend Offshore Europe 99 in Aberdeen, a conference that centred upon new technology in the industry and which was only open to those businesses considered to be at the cutting edge of innovation within the oil and gas industry. During this event, Ocean Resource shared a stand with Mentor Subsea (a subsidiary of the major American offshore engineering company J. Ray McDermott Group), with whom it has recently signed a joint marketing venture to promote the Sea Commander and Sea Producer buoy systems. This venture is already paying dividends, attracting interest from around the globe and being one of the major contributing reasons for the re-appearance of Ocean Resource as one of Wales’ fastest growing businesses.
