2. Oasis Communication Services Ltd
Mobile telecommunications retailers | Established in
Oasis Communication Services Ltd is active in one of the UK’s fastest growing markets, supplying telecommunications products and services, and offering products such as mobile phones, two way radios, photocopiers and fax machines to the commercial and consumer markets. Since its inception six years ago, the company has grown to achieve a turnover of over £2.2 million and a chain of fourteen retail outlets across the country.
The two people behind this successful homegrown business are Damian Cole - a local entrepreneur who quickly realised the marketing potential of mobile communications – and Dean Williams - an experienced sales director who has considerable experience in telecommunication sales management. Their entrepreneurial drive and business acumen has enabled the development of the company to be entirely self-financed with profits constantly re-invested in order to sustain growth. This was recently highlighted by the Gwent TEC business awards, which recognised Damian and Dean’s sales and marketing skills as being the best amongst the former county’s businesses. It is therefore not surprising that the mobile phone industry’s own independent watchdog have nominated Oasis as the top local retailer for providing customers with sound advice and best matching products to customer needs.
So where next for this entrepreneurial company that has achieved a second listing in the Wales Fast Growth Fifty? It is evident that this thriving business with a turnover that has soared by over 1300% in the last three years will continue to be a thorn in the side of many of the larger operators in South Wales. It may even prove to be a prudent acquisition for one of the industry’s major players in the coming years. Until then, it is clear that the ambitions of both directors are to develop the business further and sustain its phenomenal growth, building new links outside of Wales. For example, Oasis has just entered into an agreement to place mobile phone shops across the West Country, which will effectively double the size of the business and increase employment to around thirty people by the end of this month.
